Rivival of ‘Madras Courier’ good or bad for India of today?

Today’s ‘Madras Courier’ picks and choses controversial writings and writers from all over the world, India in particular.

Some of the writings and writers picked by this digital publication of today, challenge India’s spiritual history and publishes them periodically.

Out of curiosity, I visited an online version of today’s ‘Madras Courier’, read some articles and writers who are given space there.

I get the uneasy feeling that the online version of ‘Madras Courier’ has some hidden agenda behind it. I cannot figure out who is funding or supporting today’s ‘Madras Courier’.

To give some historical perspective, during the British rule in India, there was ‘The Madras Courier’, which was the first newspaper to be published in Madras, Madras Presidency, of British India. It was a leading newspaper of its time and was the officially recognized newspaper for printing Government notifications. It first appeared in the English language on 12 October 1785. It was started by Richard Johnston. Hugh Boyd was its first Editor.

Here are few samples (with hyperlinks) to some of the publications of today’s ‘Madras Courier’

‘Madras Courier’ reporters also go around India interviewing recognised/known intellectuals like Sadhguru Vasudev, Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar, a few others too, who can speak english language and also have own views on spiritual history of India with a view to engage them, debate with them, episodes/passages (picked selectively by the reporters,) from printed versions of Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavadgita” when these spiritual gurus visit schools/colleges or hold audience with young people.

Some of these spiritual gurus like to remove government control over hindu temples. See one video where Sadhguru Vasudev speaks his mind on it.

It is impossible to have a nation in which everyone breathes of nationality, speaks one language and follows same faith, but especially in India their are many agencies work with specific agendas. Missionaries have been on their job of pushing Christianity ever since it came in to being by doing good work and through force also as they did in Europe, but the Islamists have all along been doing it by force. But this alone is not as worrisome as is the hunch that the people behind these exercises have a deeper, sinister designs of weakening and ultimately breaking India and that is dangerous.

That’s because Hinduism preaches tolerance and enlightenment through dialogue is very much a part of it. While other religions do not permit anyone to question anything written in their scriptures. And the worst thing is that all those who attack Hinduism are born Hindus. I have never seen any Christian or a Muslim speak against his religion.

10th Jan1984: Appa screamed at me that is nothing new. But he did it in front of all in the tenants. Even she was there! “If you keep scoring only this much, you can land up only to clean the tables at a Udipi Hotel.” Is securing 75% too less? I am perplexed. What would have she thought of me?   12th Feb’84:…
