KARNATAKA BUNDH (Monday Sept 28)

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant.

Police in the city and across the state have taken steps to maintain law and order during the Karnataka bandh on Monday called by farmers, labour unions, and various rights organisations.

Talking to the press, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has warned strict action against those participating in the bandh.

“No one approached us for permission,” he said, adding that those protesting on the road will be arrested.

All this tamasha is being staged for votes in Bihar polls.

Somehow, the BJP government seems to be poor at making a connect with the people for anything it does. It happened in the case of CAA-NRC bills and now it is happening again. Though except for Punjab whatever little Tamasha that Congress and the CPI/CPM had been able to make, it hasn’t failed to gain any momentum. Despite the differences, I think all parties should work together for ushering in the reforms that are intended to change the old systems and remove the flaws, but it doesn’t happen. The political parties are not interested in genuine upliftment of the poor and the backward people.

In India everything that is done is with the eye on the elections. I really don’t know how it is going to effect the polls in Bihar because farmers in Bihar don’t seem to be protesting.

Yesterday a friend posted a video on our group showing that the tractors in the rally were not only brand new, they didn’t even have the number plates, meaning thus that they were either hired from a showroom or who knows even if the showroom from where they were taken belongs to a Congress support of MP or a MLA. Even the people who were riding the tractors were wearing while immaculate Kurta Pajamas and even gold chains around their necks could be seen. The bandhs have become a nuisance in this country and unless some laws are framed for dealing with rogue elements firmly things will continue to deteriorate. We need reforms in laws concerning freedom of expression.
