First Monsoon Rain- By Navneet Bakshi

“It’s about to rain”, Papa said.

“Make me a boat Papa”, I said.

“Make one for Daisey also”, I said.

He smiled, I giggled as if caught with the emotions of my heart exposed.

Daisey, Daisey, shouting, I ran out.

We sat at the edge of the covered veranda.

I put two pebbles in my boat and said, “Money that we will need.

The boat, tilted and overturned.

She put her boat in water carefully, placed two jasmine flowers in it.

It floated merrily and riding the torrent sped away.

We stood there smiling, see it go.    ( Total Words in Story- 97)
